CHAPTER EIGHT

“I brought a picnic lunch.” William announced as she opened the door to him a couple days later.

“And what are we supposed to do with that?” She didn’t wait for him to get inside before she wrapped herself around him and pulled his head down to kiss his lips. His hands cupped her butt and lifted her up to rub his cock against her pussy. Before they could get arrested for lewd behavior on her front porch, she broke off the embrace and moved back.

He looked stunned. “Well, I had thought about going to the park and listening to the jazz bands, but with a greeting like that, I’ve changed my mind. Let’s stay home.”

Laughing, she shook her head. “We haven’t spent much time outside since our date. Let’s see if we can act like normal people for a while.”

“Normal is over-rated,” he grumbled as she grabbed her purse and coat. “Have you seen Thompson lately?”

“No, and I’m not complaining about it. Maybe he’s gotten the idea that I don’t belong to him.” She slid her arm through his and looked up at him. “I don’t want to talk about him tonight.”

“Your wish is my command, my love.” He opened the car door for her. As she climbed in, he ran his hand over her hair. He couldn’t believe how great the last few days had been. He spent every minute he could with her and found that he wished there were more minutes in the day. Making sure she was secure, he shut the door and went over to the driver’s side. He started the car and put it in drive, then reached out for her hand. He saw her lean her head back and sigh. “Close your eyes and we’ll be there before you know it.”

She did as he said and the radio played softly in the silence as he drove to the park where the band was performing. He wouldn’t bring it up again, but he felt a spurt of fear from the fact that Thompson seemed to have disappeared. Dominic hadn’t been able to find him either and the fallen had insisted that he could find anyone. He couldn’t drop his guard or something might happen to her because they weren’t watchful enough.

“We’re here.” He helped her out of the car and handed her a blanket for them to sit on.

Leading the way through the crowd, he found a quiet out of the way spot beneath a tree. She spread the blanket out for them. Before he sat down, he surrounded her with his arms and pulled her tight to him. He wanted to tell her he loved her with all the heart left in him. She was the Heaven he had never thought he would see again. He buried his face into her hair and breathed deep. He couldn’t remember but he felt sure that Heaven must have smelled like her, a spicy and sweet scent that could turn him on or soothe him in turns.
